CLEO Test

The CLEO Online Placement Test is a quick and effective EF-branded test that takes thirty minutes to complete. The test

is divided into four sections and includes: grammar and vocabulary, listening, reading and writing.

Logging on to the test

The Cleo test is an online test and can be accessed from any computer through the Internet. The language used to navigate the test will adapt to the users’ windows system. The user should have ADSL broadband connection.

Vocabulary and Grammar Section

The user answers 40 multiple-choice questions. There is one sample question to show the user how to navigate this section. There is a picture to support each question and three to four answers to choose from.

Listening

The listening component is presented in a multiple-choice format. Users will need to use headphones.

Reading

The user will be presented with a text and will be expected to answer multiple-choice questions based on the contents.

Writing

This is an optional component at the end of the test. Users may answer a short question and their essay will be recorded for further analysis.

Submitting the Score

The user completes all parts of the test with the exception of the writing component. When the test is finished the user should press the submit key. The program will inform the user that the test is being processed. The user should not exit the test until the confirmation notice has been received.
